As schools around the world prepare for Back to School and transition to hybrid, remote, and in-person learning models, educators are using Minecraft Education Edition to keep learners engaged and connected. As part of our mission to assist teachers as well as students and families during this unique transition Minecraft: Education Edition app is now available for download. Minecraft: Education Edition app is now available for Chromebooks.



Since Minecraft: Education Edition first became available to schools in 2016 educators from all over the world have been seeking out when the platform will be made available to Chromebooks. We are thrilled to welcome Chromebook educators into the world of Minecraft and our worldwide teaching community, in collaboration with the Google Education team!



This release of Minecraft Education Edition also comes with new features for users of every type of device including Chromebooks, Windows, Mac and iPads, which enable hybrid and remote learning for back to School. There are eleven new STEM lessons, which include a special Minecraft world that was created with the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees Program. This Minecraft world will introduce kids to honeybees and their pollination. They include new mobs, such as bees, foxes blocks, beehives and beehives, and an updated lesson library with tagged learning activities that makes it easier to search for lessons.



How can I get Minecraft Education Edition for Chromebooks



Chromebook, iPad, and Windows users will be upgraded automatically to the latest version of Minecraft: Education Edition, while Mac users need to install the latest version manually. The Chromebook version of Minecraft: Education Edition offers the same features as the other versions, including multiplayer with other platforms. If your school is licensed by Microsoft 365 for Education (A3 or A5) You already have access to Minecraft: Education Edition. Minecraft: Education Edition is licensed via annual subscriptions that are purchased from the Microsoft Store for Education via volume licensing agreements or through partner resellers. Although logging in requires an account with a Microsoft account but we're working to allow users to log in using an account on Google account, too.
